Experimental. Feminine. A desert setting, the John-Lautner designed, Bob and Dolores Hope estate in Palm Springs- as far as backdrops go, this one is pretty much perfect. The structured silhouettes that Ghesquiere usually favours, were cast aside for a diverse array of influences; maxi skirts and dresses, soft silks and flowing cotton.
Tribal prints and sneakers with gowns, were de rigueur. Looks ranged from eye-wateringly short hot pants in denim, leather belts and vests with intricate embroidery, to perforated leather zip-down maxi dresses and suede colour-blocked coats. It wasn’t all ’70s tribal, though: sequinned jackets and high-shine snakeskin made a dazzling appearance too. For all you girls who hate high heels, it looks like flats are here to stay for yet another season.
